This morning, the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) announced the nominees for the 18th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.  Of all of the pre-Academy Awards ceremonies in Hollywood, the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards most closely predict which films will be Oscar-contenders. For example – all nine films nominated for the best picture Oscar were originally BFCA nominees. The category we as Hollywood Moms and Dads care most about, Best Young Actor and Actress, has no equivalent in the Academy…yet.

Of particular note this year is actress Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wildas she is nominated in the young actor and adult category. Does this make her a shoe-in for the Best Young Actress award? We’ll have to wait until the awards ceremony airs live on The CW, Thursday, Jan 10, 2013, to find out!

BEST YOUNG ACTOR/ACTRESS NOMINEES
Elle Fanning – Ginger & Rosa
Kara Hayward – Moonrise Kingdom
Tom Holland – The Impossible
Logan Lerman – The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Suraj Sharma – Life of Pi

Congratulations to all of these talented young actors!
