DISNEY CHANNEL SET TO BEGIN PRODUCTION ON “TEEN BEACH MOVIE 2,” THE SEQUEL TO THE HIT DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE

— Ross Lynch, Maia Mitchell, Grace Phipps, Garrett Clayton and John DeLuca to Reprise Starring Roles —

Disney Channel will begin production in July on “Teen Beach Movie 2,” the sequel to last summer’s “Teen Beach Movie,” a Disney Channel Original Movie that ranks as cable TV’s all-time #2 movie in Total Viewers. Ross Lynch (“Austin & Ally” and Hollywood Records’ R5), Maia Mitchell (“The Fosters”), Grace Phipps (“Baby Daddy”), Garrett Clayton (“The Fosters”) and John DeLuca (“Twisted”) will reprise their starring roles as Brady, McKenzie, Lela, Tanner and Butchy, respectively. Additional casting will be announced shortly.” Teen Beach Movie 2″ will premiere in 2015 on Disney Channel.

The cast was reunited Saturday, April 26 at the Radio Disney Music Awards where the announcement was made during “ARDY’s Pre-Show Party,” which is now available on WATCH Disney Channel.

Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said, “The audience response to the first ‘Teen Beach Movie’ was overwhelming. We are thrilled to have the cast back for a new music-driven saga that continues this fantastical story.”

The sequel is set months after surfer sweethearts McKenzie (“Mack”) and Brady return from a summer adventure that transported them into Brady’s favorite 1960s beach party movie, Wet Side Story, only to receive a surprise real-world visit from Lela, Tanner, Butchy and their other newfound surfer and biker buddies.

The writers of “Teen Beach Movie 2” are Robert Horn (“Teen Beach Movie” teleplay, writer of “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure,” writer/producer of “Designing Women”), Dan Berendsen (ABC Family’s “Baby Daddy,” Disney’s “Hannah Montana The Movie” and “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie”), and Matt & Billy Eddy (“Zapped”). “Teen Beach Movie 2” is executive-produced by Michelle Manning (producer of “The Breakfast Club,” “Jenny’s Wedding”) and David Buelow (“Teen Beach Movie,” “Bring It On: Fight to the Finish”). “Teen Beach Movie” director and choreographer Jeffrey Hornaday (choreographer of “A Chorus Line,” “Flashdance”) will direct the sequel.

In Total Viewers, five of the Top six movies in cable TV history are Disney Channel Original Movies. That franchise has also delivered the #1 TV movie telecast among Tweens for 12-consecutive years. “Teen Beach Movie” is the #2 movie in cable TV history in Total Viewers (13.53 million) and the #2 TV telecast of all time across Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14.

The “Teen Beach Movie” soundtrack (Walt Disney Records) peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 Album chart and #1 on Billboard’s Soundtrack chart. The album also fast tracked its way to #1 on the iTunes Soundtrack chart and was #3 on the Album Overall chart. Six songs ranked in the Top 15 on the iTunes Singles chart, including “Cruisin’ For A Bruisin’,” “Falling For Ya,” “Like Me,” “Can’t Stop Singing,” “Surf’s Up,” “Surf Crazy,” “Meant to Be,” and “Oxygen.”

  7. Jasmine Jemison July 29, 2014 at 12:14 am

Hi my name is Jasmine Jemison and I am 15 years old. I could go on and on of why I would like to be apart of this production but I will summarize it up. I love not just acting but, singing and dancing as well with a passion. I have been taking dance classes since I was 6 and I am currently in an acting academy. I’ve also been in a play production by the name of “High School Musical” and I played “Martha”. What I want to do with the rest of my life is this and I can’t wait to start off with doing many productions if I am able to do so. Being apart of this movie would mean the world to me and I would put my all into this. Not just for me but, for the viewers wanting to watch a great movie. I absolutely loved Teen Beach Movie and thought to myself I could do the same thing if I was fortunate enough. Even if I don’t get chosen I will still love everything about this up and coming movie and be even happier for the people who did make it into this movie. All in all someone’s dream became true and that’s enough for anyone to be happy about it, including me. Thank you!!

  8. Grace Sutanto September 3, 2014 at 10:42 am

Hi, my name is Grace and I am 15 years old. I am a huge fan of disney (specifically Teen Beach Movie) and I want to audition for the sequel, Teen Beach Movie 2 as a dancer. I have been dancing since I was 6 and I still continue my dance life. I can work on acting a little bit thought.
    facts:
    – Name: Grace E. Sutanto
    – Gender: Female
    – Age: 15
    – Ethnicity: Indonesian (just saying that if you know Bali, you will know Indonesia. If you don’t, I’ll just say this, its below Singapore and Malaysia and above Australia)
    – Eyes: Brown (I use glasses but when I dance I don’t use them)
    – Height: 168cm
    – Weight: 49 kg
    – Hair: Brown with a mix of brunette (I don’t know why)
    – Type of person: Athletic, artistic
    – Skin Type: Tan but a little bit whiter…
    Basic Description:
    – I use braces and in 6 months (hopefully) I will take it off.
    – I do lyrical, contemporary, jazz, a little bit of hip hop and gymnastics
    – Yes I speak English (unexpected for an Indonesian)
    – I have 3 sisters
    Others:
I am willing to become a dancer in the movie because my biggest passion is dancing (i just need to know how to get in America). I was wishing for this for my entire life because I want to prove to my parents that I can’t just be a girl painting and drawing in the room but I have other talents. Sometimes, my friends and sisters don’t see that because they might have a different opinion about dancing and being in a movie. I have done acting before and I was part of the main character. Anyways, I was a lead dancer for an assembly when I was younger and I am in a dance club with students around my campus. Ross Lynch is my biggest role there model because of his dancing, singing, acting and musical skills. He has influenced me in becoming a better dancer so I hope to meet him someday. If you are reading this, I can tell the directors, producers, etc. that being in a movie is the biggest opportunity for me and it helps in my career to be a better dancer and to push myself. Audiences that are reading this, just saying that I would have made an entire essay about this but no so… thanks and contact me if you have any comments
