Tea Parties Fit for Princesses, Pirates & Child Stars at LOLLIPOP DREAM!

The rain may have been pouring last Sunday in Los Angeles, but that didn’t stop me and my daughter Shelby from attending a much anticipated tea party at one of our favorite spots in the Valley – Lollipop Dream in Sherman Oaks! We slipped on our Hello Kitty rain jackets and skipped over to the Fashion Square Mall to an oasis of fun and sparkles on an otherwise dreary day.

Lollipop Dream in Sherman Oaks, CA is a party venue, store and play-date destination all in one!

Lollipop Dream has been on our radar for quite some time. We have attended their “Brunch with a Princess” events and we were even the lucky winners of a 3 month Kids Club membership after entering their Facebook page contest! I didn’t have to think twice when they invited Hollywood Mom Blog to their tea party event for mommy bloggers, not to mention a great way to prepare my princess for Mirror Mirror! RSVP – Yes, Please!

Lollipop Dream is an all-inclusive spot for children and families located on the exterior of the Sherman Oaks mall just minutes from the 101 freeway. It is a one-stop party and play date destination complete with princess dresses for the girls, pirate outfits for the boys, tea party necessities, craft supplies, face painting, REAL princesses, and so much more!

During the week, Lollipop Dream hosts Story Time, Happy Hour Open Play, and Afternoon Tea! And on the weekend, they have reservation only scheduled events like Tea Time with Princess Tiana, a Grand Party with Cinderella & Aurora, and Dessert with Daddy or Brunch with Snow White. Their weekend schedule changes every month and varies in price from $20-$40. And for that one special day of the year (ahem – BIRTHDAYS!), they have a plethora of party options for princesses and pirates alike, offering everything from dress up to crazy hair salons and bug hunters – just to name a few. And be sure to check out their amazing store featuring tutus, backpacks, craft sets, jewelry and plenty of other fun trinkets for your little one!

Shelby was thrilled to choose an outfit from their 200-costume dress up closet! As Princess Belle, she had a sparkly butterfly painted on her cheek and we were ready for some tea. To our surprise, the “real” Princess Belle joined us along with her friend, Princess Tiana. The ladies taught Shelby and the other girls princess etiquette and chatted them up over tea, scones, and rainbow macaroons. Then they finished the party with a fun craft and a mini fashion show. All of the attendees had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed being little girls that afternoon. As the mother of a 4-year-old girl in LA, I have seen my fair share of “real” princesses. And believe you me, these are THE best princesses around… they have the right look, know their back story and most importantly, Stay in Character! And guess what – you can even hire the Lollipop Dream princesses for your own party at reasonable rates!

Hollywood Childrens Festival of the Arts at Paramount Studios

The Hollywood Arts Council presents the 24th Annual Children’s Festival of the Arts on Sunday, August 9, 2009. The days activities begin at 12pm and conclude at 4:30pm. The festival is being held at Paramount Pictures Studio with ample free parking on the studio lot. The FESTIVAL IS FREE. New Talent: Julian Pavone, The Worlds Youngest Drummer!

“Ribert and Robert’s WonderWorld,” the multi-award winning children’s television series, has signed the prodigy drummer Julian Pavone to 13 episodes. Julian will star in and co-host the shows as he travels to major U.S. cities on a quest to find out about the birth and evolution of various types of music throughout the country.

It would be a gross understatement to say Julian is no stranger to the media, having appeared on more than 100 television and news shows, including “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Good Morning America,” “The Maury Show,” “Martha Stewart” and “Inside Edition.” I promise you have never seen a resume like this for a kid, much less one you probably have never heard of before this post. Julian has received worldwide attention with more than 7500 newspaper and magazine articles written about him.

“Ribert and Robert’s WonderWorld,” with 78 half-hours currently broadcasting, is a unique new preschool series that combines 3D animation and live-action in an effort to help children become more curious, more knowledgeable and more confident about the world they live in. It is the first interactive series presented from a child’s point of view. Every episode treats Ribert and the Power Pals (the viewers) to a virtual roller-coaster ride through WonderWorld designed specifically to explore Ribert’s curiosities – like colors, animals and being afraid of the dark.

WonderWorld Entertainment, LLC, producer of the show, recognized Julian’s talent and presented him with a Golden Ribby Award in April. He was one of many participants in this first worldwide online talent contest for kids. Julian comes to WonderWorld with an impressive resume. Just five years-old, he plays a 22-piece custom drum set with 17 cymbals and has full artist endorsements with Vic Firth drumsticks, Innovation Drums, ddrums, Dean Guitars and Sabian Cymbals.

Many consider Julian the “Tiger Woods of the Music Industry.” He became the youngest member of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Drumline at age 15 months and at 20 months recorded a CD, “Go Baby!” with legendary bassist Ralphe Armstrong. He is the youngest to have performed at West Hollywood’s famed Whisky A Go-Go. He invented and received a patent for “Abracadabra” Stain Cover-up, now also making him “The World’s Youngest Inventor!”

He’ll have a busy summer taping the series, performing with his “High School Band” and recording his next CD with Michael J. Powell (4-time Grammy Award winning producer).

Babies, Tigers and Chickens – Oh My! The kid who made me a “Hollywood Mom” has her first feature film debut nationwide today: The Warner Brother’s Vegas comedy, “The Hangover.”

Kids fare? Ah, not by a long shot. My child actor may have been in the film but she won’t get to view it for at least another 8 years. It’s a raunchy bro-fest comedy, complete with both illicit and illegal activities: gambling, drinking, drugs, elevator sex, counting cards, kidnapping, theft, thugs, shot-gun weddings, a “missing” man and a “found” infant. Actually reminds me of a night back with the crazies at Capistrano Valley High School and more than one night at East Carolina University in the mid 80′s. But I digress.

See it, laugh, have a good time and be on the lookout for the tall flower girl with the long brown hair, the star of this Hollywood Mom’s life, Jordan Bobbitt.
