CASTING NEWS: Child Star CHLOE MORETZ Lands Role of Child Prostitute in THE EQUALIZER

According to several media outlets, Chloe Moretz, 16, is rumored to be up for, or perhaps all ready cast in, the role of child prostitute “Teri,” the female lead in Sony’s “The Equalizer,” the feature film version of the classic television show, starring Denzel Washington. Moretz participated in a table read for the part and reportedly impressed everyone. The part was originally meant to be cast with an actor in their 20′s, but Moretz’ talent led them in her much younger, direction. Not surprisingly the role is being compared to Jodie Foster’s Oscar-nominated role of Iris in “Taxi Driver.” The Equalizer is currently scheduled for April 11, 2014 release.

Premonition? In 2011, Moretz sat for BAZAAR with Keanu Reeves is a recreation of famous “TAXI DRIVER” movie stills.

Moretz can next be seen in the lead role of Carrie in the remake. Moretz told Nylon Magazine that she implemented Method Acting for this challenging role.

“I tried a new style of acting that I’ve never tried before. When I do a crying scene, I’m the type of actor who usually breaks right out of it afterwards, and I’m laughing and being silly. But with Carrie, I wanted to try staying in character and being in that dark space all day. I’m not very serious Method. It’s not like I didn’t talk to my family or go crazy and not eat, but with the director and the actors I was Carrie all the time on set. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, but it was one of the darkest, and I’m terrified to see the movie because it’s the most vulnerable I’ve ever been.”

Carrie will be in theaters October 2013. Chloe is represented by William Morris Endeavor, 3 Arts Entertainment & BWR.

Tammy Smith Casting Atlanta is looking for children to work in the remake of “ENDLESS LOVE.” Kids, all ethnicities, AGES 5 to 13 are needed for various scenes in the movie ( a graduation scene, an airport scene, a swimming pool scene, a scene with kids playing in a fountain, and a park scene)- various dates that they will notify the chosen kids for as they get closer to each scene. TSCasting must start the casting process now for work permit purposes!

They are also looking for a stand in to work for lead actor Alex Pettyfer for “Endless Love,” 5’10 to 6’1, who currently has longish, dark brownish hair.

Teen Actress Nicola Peltz, 18, joined fellow Bates Motel cast-mates at the ‘Bates Motel: Reimagining A Cinema Icon’ screening at The Paley Center for Media on May 10, in Beverly Hills. The 18-year old actress plays Bradley Martin in A&E’s contemporary reimagined pre-quel to Hitchcock’s classic thriller “Psycho.”

Unlike the dark and twisted nature of the show, she looked radiant in a white Versace dress with mesh panels and zipper detail. She kept hair and makeup minimal, but added some flair with silver metallic Prada platform sandals.

A few days earlier, the entire cast attended the 2013 A&E Upfront on May 8th in New York City. Nicola arrived in a sporty patchwork dress from the Proenza Schouler 2013 RTW Collection. She played up the bold look with sleek side-swept hair and smoky bronze eye makeup.

Which look do you prefer? We’re sort of feeling the youthful Proenza Schouler number but she looks fabulous in both.

It’s confirmed that Nicola has been cast as the female lead in Michael Bay’s 4th installment of Transformers, which has been slated for release in June 2014. Nicola Peltz, daughter of billionaire Nelson Peltz, is represented by WME and Untitled Entertainment.

“Bates Motel” airs at 10/9c on Monday nights on A&E and has recently been renewed for a 2nd season.

Nicola choose a white Versace dress with mesh panels for the Beverly Hills event.

Nicola completed the fresh Beverly Hills ensemble with Prada platform sandals.

If there was a Met Ball to attend as a teenager, this year’s theme was one you didn’t want to miss. Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld, 16, attended the 2013 Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 6 in New York City. The annual star-studded event celebrated the opening of the Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition and had many attendees rockin’ out the theme.

At first glance you might just miss that her custom Donna Karan Atelier dress is covered in gold bursts of safety pins—very punk. And like many of the A-listers in attendance, she played up the eye makeup—also very punk era—with a sharp-edged cat eye and a deep shade of green. She finished off her ensemble with side-swept waves, gold spiked jewelry, and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Hailee currently has a laundry list of movies in pre and post-production, one of which is another remake of Romeo and Juliet where she plays the tragic heroine of Shakespeare’s epic romance. Her breakout role, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award was 2010’s western “True Grit,” starring alongside Hollywood veterans Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin and Matt Damon.

Two very special 8-year-old kids, both patients of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, are doing something amazing for their moms this Mother’s Day.

Talented Child Actor Max Page and his darling pal Regan Owens, both patients of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, hope to make this Mother’s Day extra special for kids and their families at the hospital through a special fundraising webpage to help sick kids get better. Their ambitious goal is to raise $25,000!

You may recall Max (pictured right) from articles we’ve posted about him here on Hollywood Mom Blog – he’s the adorable toe head who played a mini Darth Vader in a popular VW Passat commercial that aired during the 2012 Superbowl. Max also underwent heart surgery in 2012 for a congenital heart defect.

This is the kids’ way of thanking their own moms for caring for them when they were in the hospital and they’re excited that their efforts will help other children like them—an inspiring example of kids helping kids!

Child Star Chloe Moretz has a squeaky-clean record in Hollywood while maintaining her edgy, fashionable teen image. She tells US Magazine that she hopes keep it like that and avoid becoming a another former child star cliche.

Moretz states: “I’m, like, incredibly straight-laced, considering what some 16-year-olds are doing. This business is not peaches and cream, and I’ve fought tooth and nail to earn this spot. I’m not a girl who’s ridden on a last name or lucked into it from getting on one project that blows up. I worked for 11 years, and I have to keep working, too, because if I sat back on my haunches right now, I could disappear within a month.”

The talented teen star of “Let Me In,” “Hugo” and “Dark Shadows,” says she’s a normal teenager.

“…I have to portray that glamorous image of, like, Dior Couture! Chanel! Prada! That’s a character. It’s ‘the star,’ not ‘the girl.’ So in my brand, it’s all in one package. That’s just what you have to do.

This is an emotional, character drama of a children’s soccer coach struggling to deal with an ADHD kid on his team. Jason is inexperienced handling the eccentricities of ten-year-old Shawn whose excessive ADHD behavior causes havoc with training the team. In his search to make this work for all the kids, Jason discovers new ways to get the best out of everyone including himself and Shawn.

The film is being produced and directed by Emmy Award winning filmmaker Jeremy Kagan.

This film is being made by The Change Making Media Lab at The University of Southern California www.cmml.usc.edu with a grant from the School of Psychiatry at the Keck Medical at USC. The film will be initially distributed around the country to organizations that train kids and to coaches in all sports as well as organizations helping ADHD children.

As part of the work of The Change Making Media Lab, this is meant to change behavior, utilizing methods of Entertainment Education in creating an emotional story that confronts these problems. It can make a difference.
