On Sunday, November 11, P.S. Arts PS ARTS Hosts Child Star ART FAIR!

The 2012 Express Yourself art fair and family day at the Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hangar celebrated art and art education with L.A.’s best restaurants, craft booths, musical performances, and even kiddy fashion make-overs.  Paul Frank, sponsor of the event, sent me, hubby, the kid, and the grandparents so I could report first-hand that this worthwhile event provides entertainment for all ages. Saban Brands kicked off their Paul Frank Arts program at this event, which will be an ongoing corporate commitment to support creativity and fun for kids of all ages through non-profit partnerships and national drives to provide art supplies to schools and after-school art programs.   Disney, Bounce/AEG, OneWest Bank, E! Entertainment and Lynda and Stewart Resnick were the additional hosts.

Saban Brands

Paul Frank Arts is an ongoing corporate commitment to support creativity and fun for kids of all ages through non-profit partnerships and national drives to provide art supplies to schools and after-school art programs.  “The Paul Frank brand is built around artistic expression and rooted in creativity,” said Elie Dekel, president of Saban Brands. “It is a natural extension for us to nurture the talent of young people by ensuring they have access to the supplies and materials they need for self-expression. Paul Frank Arts allows us to extend both our reach and our commitment.”

The program encourages Paul Frank fans to send new and gently used art supplies in by mail to its non-profit partners The Dreaming Zebra Foundation and P.S. ARTS, donate funds online or host a fundraiser. The Dreaming Zebra Foundation will distribute donations to its programs at schools and community organizations across the United States. Online donations to Dreaming Zebra will be facilitated through Art Room Aid, an online arts donation portal that is a project of Blick Art Materials. Blick Art Materials is supporting the Paul Frank Art Supplies Round Up by promoting the program and the Dreaming Zebra/Paul Frank Art Supplies Round Up Art Room Aid page through online outreach.

Paul Frank will be promoting the Art Supplies Round Up through a $1 per share/ $1 per retweet campaign. For each Facebook “share” of the Paul Frank Art Supplies Round Up graphic, Paul Frank will donate $1 to The Dreaming Zebra Foundation (up to $15,000). For every retweet of the message on Twitter, Paul Frank will donate $1 to P.S. ARTS (up to $15,000).

In addition to collecting funds and art supplies online, Paul Frank will be sponsoring art supplies collection drives at several major malls and holiday shopping destinations across the country. Sakura of America is helping to kick off our art supplies donations by sending Cray-Pas® oil pastels to The Dreaming Zebra Foundation.

The first Paul Frank Art Supplies Round-Up was held on Sunday, November 11, 2012, in Los Angeles, as part of P.S. ARTS’ annual “Express Yourself” event, which Paul Frank sponsored. P.S. ARTS provides art education in the L.A. area. The event brought together local leaders and influencers and their kids for an afternoon of arts immersion.

The company has previously supported creativity through its “Paul Frank Art Attack” annual art and design competition which awards $12,000 in scholarships to young artists and art students. The expanded program will feature a year-round focus on creativity, the arts and music, with more new programming coming in 2013.

About Art Room Aid, A Program of Blick Art Materials

Art Room Aid was created in 2009 by Blick Art Materials. As a company focused on educational and professional art supplies, Blick has also consistently supported arts education in diverse ways. Whether sponsoring art scholarships or creating lesson plans that address national standards of learning while easing the burden on busy educators, Blick understands just how important collaboration is. Blick is a family-owned company that began at Mr. and Mrs. Blick’s kitchen table in Galesburg, Illinois, 100 years ago. If you’re an art educator, Art Room Aid provides the tools to easily share your dreams and funding needs without complicated applications or fees that take away from contributions. If you’re an arts advocate you can quickly locate a project that resonates with you and make a high-quality contribution that will go directly to a project in need. When you become a part of Art Room Aid, either as a project leader or as a sponsor, you’re joining a larger community and taking part in a conversation that goes far beyond the classrooms and community spaces where essential creative learning is taking place every day.
