CASTING FAMILIES THAT ARE VERY INVOLVED IN THEIR BABY’S ACTING AND MODELING CAREER

Major Cable Network is looking for fun and dynamic families in Los Angeles and nearby cities that go above and beyond to make sure their baby makes it in the industry. The series will document four families on their journies through life at home, auditions, callbacks and what it takes to land the gig.

We are hoping to show America that not all families in the industry are obsessive “stage parents.” If you have a child who is between the ages of 3 months and 4 years old that is in the industry please email me a recent photograph of your immediate family, contact information and a brief overview of your child’s success in the the industry thus far.

You can send all submissions to JesseTannenbaumCasting@gmail.com

UPDATE: Teen Star Taylor Momsen Allegedly Suspended from “GOSSIP GIRL”

UPDATE: Teen Star Taylor Momsen Allegedly Suspended from “GOSSIP GIRL”

Posted on 22. Nov, 2010 by .

UPDATE:  According to Deadline Hollywood, Taylor Momsen has been suspended from “Gossip Girl”  indefinitely because of her “offscreen antics.”  Representatives for the CW and Warner Brothers did not comment, but Momsen is confirmed to miss at least 4 episodes, beginning with the show’s Dec. 6, 2010 midseason finale.  Momsen, who is credited as a series regular, has only appeared in three episodes this entire season.

Child Star Taylor Momsen: From “Shake & Bake” to Press Mistakes?

Taylor Momsen, shown in the video below at age 3 in an adorable “Shake & Bake” commercial, made her first mistake starring as Cindy Lou Who in “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” (2000) because as all know, crazy hair photos live forever!  Just kidding.  Of course it was actually this role along side funny guy Jim Carrey and under the direction of Ron Howard (a former child actor himself) that put Taylor Momsen on the Hollywood map with a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for favorite female newcomer.

According to Starpulse, Momsen allegedly blames her parents for robbing her of her childhood, stating: “Everyone’s like, ‘Wow, why is [Taylor] upset and why is she so miserable about things?’ My parents signed me up with Ford at the age of two. No 2 year old wants to be working, but I had no choice. My whole life, I was in and out of school. I didn’t have friends. I was working constantly and I didn’t have a real life.”

Momsen is reportedly lashing out at her parents choice to put her in show biz, declaring they are the reason she is miserable. Seems like this really is a “Press Mistake” as there are numerous photos of Momsen on the internet, many of them with her dedicated momager Colette right by her side. Seems unwise to so harshly condemn and blame your parents for your “misfortune,” not because they gave birth to you, but because they currently accompany you everywhere you go and your “misfortune” is questionable at best.  Her statements probably also make for some awkward silences at the family dinner table.

Taylor Momsen and Mother Collete Momsen

Press Mistake #2 is pissing off well-regarded and fearlessly sharp-tongued cast mates like Project Runway‘s Tim Gunn, who guest starred as himself in an October episode of  Momsen’s show “Gossip Girls.” While Gunn was on George Lopez’ talk show to promote his book Gunn’s Golden Rules: Life’s Little Lessons for Making It Work recently, he chastised Taylor for her on-set misbehavior, saying Momsen spent too much time on her BlackBerry and not enough time focusing on her job.  He told Lopez, ”We were doing a different take for every single line that she had. And she acted annoyed at the crew, and the director, and the producer.”Ouch.

When she’s not lashing out at her parents, cast mates, crew members and annoying Tim Gunn, the “Gossip Girl” TV star finds time to front the band “The Pretty Reckless,” and be spokes model for Madonna’s daughter Lourdes’ new clothing line, “Material Girl.” Mistake #3 would appear to be that Taylor could easily call it quits with the whole miserable show biz thing now that she’s an almost-adult but on the contrary her entertainment empire is growing and branching out into both music and commercials.

So are these really “Press Mistakes,” or rather part of some calculated strategy to make it into the headlines and stay in them long term, even if it requires that one say and do some fairly obnoxious things?  I’m guessing Momsen subscribes to the “Any press is good press” adage as many people unfamiliar with her show are now acutely aware of who she is.  Sometimes in Hollywood, that’s all that matters.

Product Review: Takeya Glass Water Bottles: The Better Option for Water on the Go!

Product Review: Takeya Glass Water Bottles: The Better Option for Water on the Go!

As I packed the kids’ audition bag the other day, I reached for one of my daughter’s sippy cups out of sheer habit. I would never want to be stuck in a waiting room with my two year old daughter without a cold drink. She would view this as reasonable grounds for a tantrum or at the very least, incessant whining until I used my magic mommy powers to make water magically appear out of “no-where”. Before adding her sippy cup to my already bursting bag, I remembered the most recent “sippy cup in the purse incident” in which my cell phone nearly saw its last day after swimming in a pool of leaked juice. To avoid reliving that tragic moment, I decided on a better option. I grabbed my eco-friendly Takeya glass water bottle and we were on our way.

Takeya glass water bottles are a fun, portable, and stylish option for hydrating both you and your kids while on the go. Their airtight, leakproof twist cap gives me peace of mind after I haphazardly toss it in my bag upside-down. Instead of packing the ever-leaking sippy cups, I just bring our Takeya bottle and an empty sippy cup on the side – allowing for my daughter and I to both have a cold drink without the spills! I loved how pure and fresh the water tasted. These BPA free glass bottles completely eliminated the strange taste that often comes from using plastic or metal bottles. And when the audition was over and we returned home, I simply stuck the whole thing in the dishwasher – silicone jacket and all. Talk about Hollywood Mom-Friendly!  Takeya glass water bottle will definitely be a regular addition to our audition bag from now on.  I may have to convince 2 year old to remove such extraneous items as her princess dress and box of 96 crayons from the bag in order to make room – but it’s a risk I am willing to take!

Now one lucky Hollywood Mom Blog reader can add a Takeya Glass Water Bottle to her audition bag too. To enter to win, just tell us below in the comment/response section, what your most important audition bag items are and how a Takeya Glass Water Bottle could help you fight those audition blues! The Winner will be announced on Sunday, November 7, 2010.

I am thrilled to announce that my infant son Cash will now be working with Jet Set Models, the premier baby modeling agency in Southern California.  Click Here to check out Cash’s profile on the Jet Set Models page.

When I was told Jet Set had accepted Cash as one of their models, I was also told that I needed 40 outdoor, clean shots of him in brightly-colored clothes with no logos or cartoon characters.  Wow.  to the uninitiated this may seem like a plausible request, but I was instantly worried about the obstacles I was sure to face.

1. Wardrobe - Bright colors? Ooh – that nice green onesie!  But wait, there’s a monkey on it. Veto.  Ok, off to Carter’s I go…

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find brightly-colored shirts for 6-month-old boys that are completely free of cute sayings and cartoon characters? 4 stores and 3 adorable outfits later, my mission was complete and they were all on clearance, thankyouverymuch.

2. Outdoor Lighting - It is best to take photographs in the early morning or the late afternoon.  At other times of the day the direct sunlight causes shadows and squinting babies aren’t as cute as happily-shaded babies.  However, this is so much easier said than done.   Most mornings were so busy that I found myself racing against the sun, begging it not to move around the corner of my building so I would still be able to shoot inside the apartment as the sun came in through the East-facing windows.

If I tried to shoot outside, this meant releasing “the beast” (aka Shelby, my 2.5-year-old) into her natural habitat.  I would, in turn, spend every second making sure she doesn’t hurt herself (or one of the unsuspecting bugs on the sidewalk) and not be able to take any pictures, completely defeating the purpose of going outside in the first place.  In the end, I got the shots with some impromptu late afternoon shoots with the sun coming in from the South-side windows.  The money shot, as I like to call it, I got when I managed to sneak away sans toddler to the park one early morning.

3. Supported Sitter - While I am not trying to rush his life as a baby, it would have been tremendously easier to take good pictures of Cash if he could sit up on his own.  I have been saying that I can’t wait for him to sit up since day one, though, because I need 4 sets of hands to accomplish anything.  Or maybe I think it will be so cute when he can sit with Shelby and really play and interact with her.  But for the pictures, I had to sneakily hold him upright with one hand and then take one-handed shots with the other - causing many of them to come out blurry for obvious reasons.  As of a few days ago, he’s actually started balancing solo for a fair amount of time.  So for round two of pictures, this shouldn’t be an issue.

A few sunny days, plenty of funny faces, and about 400 pictures later, I had a fairly decent collection of photos.  The top 40 were whittled down to 4 and here we are – ready to roll – bring on the castings!

And for those of you who are wondering, Shelby’s look just wasn’t right for Jet Set at this time.  But no worries!  We are shopping around for another agency just for her.
