FAQ
Can I bring my child to the Cindy Osbrink seminar?
The Q&A is geared towards the parents as a learning opportunity that children might find boring. Your opportunity to listen without disruption, as well as those around, you may be effected. We strongly encourage you to find alternate care for your childrenduring that time. That said, we understand that an alternate caregiver is not always an option and we do not want that to be the reason you miss. If you choose to bring a child, please step out if he/she becomes disruptive. We also kindly ask that children not be brought in the hopes of soliciting representation for them.
My 16 yr old would like to attend Actors Bootcamp. Can she also attend the Cindy Osbrink seminar?
YES! She would learn a lot from listening in and is welcome to ask questions!I am attending Cindy Osbrink’s free seminar, can I sit in for the rest of the ACTORS BOOTCAMP day too?
You are welcome to upgrade to a paid registration, but the free portion is for that one seminar only.Further Questions? Please Contact Cassie (cassie@belairpres.org).

CHILD STARS: Dakota Fanning, 17, Named COSMO’s Fun Fearless Woman of the Year
Posted on 05. Jan, 2012 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
Dakota Fanning, 17, is the latest celebrity to grace the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine. Yes, that Cosmopolitan Magazine. She has also been given the honorary title of “Fun, Fearless Woman of the Year,” like slightly older recipients, Beyonce’ and Mila Kunis, have before her.
Many readers are crying foul that a young actress, known best for films like Charlotte’s Web and Dr. Suess’ The Cat in the Hat, is on this cover next to headlines reading “His Best Sex Ever,” “Too Naughty To Stay Here: But You Have to Try This Sex Trick,” and “Um, Vagina Are You Okay Down There?” But in all fairness, she looks beautiful if not entirely age appropriate in a mostly-cleavage-covering pink sequin gown. Reminder – Fanning will become a legal adult soon as she celebrates her 18th birthday at the end of February 2012.
Fanning is still legally a minor though which is why some outlets are raising issue with the placement of a 17 year old on the cover of a magazine well-known for pushing the limits of adult female sexuality. For those of you who recall Miley Cyrus’ Vanity Fair photo shoot a few years back – this seems tame in comparison to me. Living in Los Angeles, I’ve seen more provocative dresses at high school proms. I think it’s the not so much the photo people are struggling with as the Fanning-Cosmo affiliation.
HMB Readers may recall that Fanning raised eyebrows in a perfume ad for Marc Jacobs’ perfume Oh, Lola! just a few months ago which was eventually banned in the UK for sexualizing a minor.

Dakota Fanning Is the New Face of Marc Jacobs Fragrance “OH, LOLA”
Posted on 20. Jun, 2011 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
Dakota Fanning, 18, is on a roll. Film Star, Homecoming Queen, Cheerleader, High School Grad and now, the spokesmodel for Marc Jacobs’ newest fragrance, Oh, Lola. Fanning is the face for the ad campaign for a floral spin-off of the brand’s Lola perfume.
Allure Magazine interviews Fanning this month about her new spokesperson gig. An excerpt below:
You must have been crazy young when you sat in hair and makeup for the first time. What was it like? “I was about six. I didn’t have much hair then, just little blonde wisps, so they didn’t do much. But I think it makes anyone feel special to get their hair and makeup done.”
Have you learned any beauty lessons on-set that you’ve taken into your real life? “I’ve learned this from my mom and all the make-up artists I have ever worked with: Always wear sunscreen.”
How would you describe your look? “I like to look really clean and fresh-faced. It is always fun to experiment with a lot of makeup, but I keep it pretty simple in my everyday life.”
What’s the most extreme beauty change you’ve made for a role? “When I played Cherie Currie in The Runaways, I wore more eye make-up than I think anyone has ever worn; and with the platinum blonde wig I was totally transformed into Cherie.”
According to Marc Jacobs, “We recolored the bottle and changed the juice. This Lola is more of a Lolita than a Lola, but we weren’t going to call the fragrance Lolita. Lola is more seductive; Oh, Lola is sensual, but she’s sweeter.”
While the ad campaign, shot by Juergen Teller, won’t officially hit magazine stands until August, WWD published a sneak peek at the images. As you can see, a pink-clad Fanning is provocatively posed in a “Am I sweet or Am I sexy?” posture that oddly manages to accomplish both.
Regarding Fanning Jacobs tells WWD, “When we were speaking about who to use in the Oh, Lola fragrance ads — I had recently seen ‘The Runaways.’ Dakota was in it, and I know she could be this contemporary Lolita, seductive yet sweet.”

As I said the other day in a related post on Fanning’s graduation, it seems like just yesterday we were introduced to Fanning in “I Am Sam.” Sheesh, would someone please pass me a Geritol?

As I said the other day in a related post on Fanning's high school graduation, doesn't it seem like just yesterday that we were introduced to Fanning in "I Am Sam?"

HMB on the Red Carpet of “The Nutcracker in 3D” World Premiere!
Posted on 12. Nov, 2010 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.

Elle Fanning at the premiere of THE NUTCRACKER in 3D, with HMB reporters Blaire Goldberg & Jordan Bobbitt
As most of you know, yesterday was the World Premiere of Elle Fanning’s new movie, “The Nutcracker in 3D” and Hollywood Mom Blog not only hosted a giveaway to our readership (Lucky reader Yasmin won 2 Passes!) but HMB also attended and interviewed the stars as they entered the theater. It was a wonderful night at The Grove LA, where Christmas decorations are all ready up adding to the magical atmosphere. The family film opens nationwide November 24, 2010. For a detailed synopsis of the movie, cast and hyperlinks please read our original post.
Below is a video recap of the evenings festivities at the premiere. A special thanks to my daughter Jordan for not only working the red carpet as an ace interviewer but for editing this piece in one afternoon. Thanks also to adorable Blaire Goldberg for her deft flip cam coverage and reporting skills, her mother Nicole Hanratty for working her magic with the camera up and down ladders as well as the red carpet and to Pennie and Emme Creager for overall moral support, being seat-saving ninjas and for the ride home. Muaahhhh! Big kisses to you all ladies!
This is what HMB’s winner Yasmin Matten had to say about her experience at the premiere:
Hi Tracy!
We can’t thank you enough for giving us the opportunity to go to the Nutcracker in 3D premiere last night! For several days, I kept eagerly waiting for that e-mail to tell me that I won, and I did! It was my daughter, Amelia’s, birthday and you helped make it a very special day. I had shown her the previews of the movie online and she was just so excited to be there. I didn’t hear a peep out of her during the entire movie! At the end of the movie, Amelia got to briefly meet and take a quick picture with Elle. This will be something really cool for her to see when she gets older.
Since moving to LA last year from the east coast, we’ve been having so much fun with all these “Hollywood moments”. My other daughter, Fiona (6mo), got her first “job” on TV when she was just a month old and we now have both girls with an agency. It’s fun, but it sure takes a lot of you! I promised my friends back east that I wouldn’t turn into a Hollywood mom, but it’s just so contagious! I love reading your blogs with all your great information. I can tell that you put a lot of effort into it. We all appreciate your hard work.
Keep up the great work you’re doing on the HMB! We look forward to more events!
All the best,
Yasmin and Amelia Matten

Dakota Fanning on Growing Up in Marie Claire’s August Issue
Posted on 13. Jul, 2010 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
Soon-to-be “Former” Child Star, Dakota Fanning, 16, graces the cover of Marie Claire’s August issue. The “Eclipse” and “The Runaways” starlet continues to evolve into a mature actress, trading in yesteryear’s’ Kaiya Eve Pettiskirts for a a leather-trimmed blue graphic-print Proenza Schouler dress among other sophisticated but age appropriate looks. My fave is Fanning with teased-out hair donning a gun-metal metallic sheath with blue short shorts, topped with a 3.1 Phillip Lim tuxedo jacket and Nina Ricci sweater.

The Campbell Hall high school student dishes to the magazine on her “transition” from child actor to screen star. “When you start out young, people get really attached to who you are at 6 years old,” Fanning tells Marie Claire. “I hope that ‘The Runaways‘ was kind of a moment to be like, ‘You know, I’m not that young little girl anymore, but I’m still not all grown up, either.’” The critics have taken notice of Fanning’s blossoming talent as well. The New York Times, A.O. Scott states: “Ms. Fanning, who has shown herself a remarkably disciplined and self-aware actress almost since toddlerhood, displays heartbreaking vulnerability as well as frightening poise,” of her performance in the “Runaways.” And like a fine wine aged to perfection, The Denver Post simply called her performance, “uncorked.”
The seasoned actress is practical about the future of her career. “As you get older, there’s so much more that you can do in films,” Fanning says. “I’ve never wanted to rush that; I’ve always wanted to do what’s right for my age, but as you approach 18, a whole new world opens up to you as an actor, and I really look forward to that.”
Visit the magazine’s Web site and pick up the August issue of Marie Claire, on sale July 13, 2010 for the full interview and more fab pics.

Forbes Top 10 Teen Actors
Posted on 05. Jun, 2009 by Hollywood Mom.
Forbes recently put out their list of top 10 teen actors. I’d say their right on. These kids not only have talent, but they have “it.” All of them clearly love what they do and were born with natural abilities that with training, just light up the screen.
In order of box office pull, Forbes rated them in this order:
- Danielle Radcliffe, 19
- Miley Cyrus, 16
- Dakota Fanning, 15
- Abigail Breslin, 13
- Hayden Panetierre, 19
- Emma Watson, 19
- Freddie Highmore, 17
- Keke Palmer, 15
- Emma Roberts, 18
- Anton Yelchin, 20 (No longer a teen Forbes!)
A few of these names may not be as well known, but not for long! All of these teen actors have more than an ability to deliver lines; they have an apparent maturity and sense of self that works to their advantage in this business. With that ability comes a demand from not only their audience, but the studios that make their movies. I can’t say if all these kids really have that maturity factor in their day to day lives, but based on their early successes, their publicity interviews, tours and the projects on their calendars, they’re doing something right.
