Director Jason Reitman of feature film hits JUNO & UP IN THE AIR is casting two kids as lead actors for his new film LABOR DAY
Okay Hollywood Moms, this is the casting call you’ve been waiting for. Moms of girls in the 11-14 age group have noticed a slight slow down in casting calls of late and that’s about to change with this wonderful casting opp. Chrystie Street Casting is seeking a 10-14 YEAR OLD BOY & 10-14 YEAR OLD GIRL to star in the feature film “LABOR DAY” to be directed by the talented Jason Reitman (JUNO, YOUNG ADLOT, UP IN THE AIR.)
Starts shooting June 2012 in Massachusetts
HENRY – 13 Years old (submit 10-14yrs), Caucasian Male – Henry is a true innocent. He has taken over the role of caretaker and protector to his fragile, reclusive mother Adele. He is an observant boy who understands his mother’s loneliness, but is too young to understand why he cannot entirely fill it. When a new man enters the picture, the friend-less Henry is both exhilarated by the relationship and threatened by the prospect that he is no longer needed by his mother. LEAD
ELEANOR - 14yrs, (submit 10-14 yrs) Caucasian. She is a skinny girl, a product of a broken home, she is newly moved from a big city to live with her father and already bored with the small town entertainments. An intelligent girl, Eleanor learned how to get what she wants with wit, calculations and her newly developed sexual awareness. To Henry she is the mysterious hot girl who seems to know everything about the world that he doesn’t. LEAD

PRODUCT REVIEW: Tea Collection Debuts Modern Mexico for Fall 2011
Posted on 20. Oct, 2011 by Hollywood Mom.
Tea Collection Clothing for babies and kids is known for having a flair for the international, using color palettes and designs with a distinctly soft but sophisticated appeal. This season’s collection is no different. Inspired by a whimsical-take on Modern Mexico, Tea’s Fall 2011 pieces have a little Latin flair to suit everyone.
The girls collection includes CASA OAXACA, JARDIN AZUL and MERCADO MEXICANO. Casa Oaxaca is aptly described as “Frida Kahlo, friends, a fiesta of flowers and fun,” while Jardin Azul and Mercado Mexicano have a decidedly modern tone featuring an explosion of color and culture. Girls clothing fits to size 12.
One of my favorite pieces in the girls collection is a 100 percent cotton, smocked dress (pictured left) inspired by the Ciudadela daily crafts and clothing market in the center of Mexico City. The dress has tiers of ruffles with a relaxed fit, hits just above the knee and pairs perfectly with their assorted leggings. And “pairing perfectly” is another of TEA’s strengths. If you happen to be a parent who doesn’t necessarily cherish the mixing and matching process of children’s wardrobe shopping, relax, TEA has it covered with five piece “WARDROBE SETS.” Seriously, it doesn’t get any easier than that.
While I’m raising a daughter and love all the frilly, girly clothing, I have to admit the Modern Mexico mix for boys really tugs at my heart strings. TEA describes the collection as “Aztec art meets bold blanket stripes,” like the beyond adorable Chapultepec Romper (soft slub jersey with a polo collar pictured below), named after the park in Mexico City that houses the Museum of Anthropology. For my son and daughter-in-law’s recent baby shower, we stocked them up on the collection’s rompers, shirts, pajamas, layettes and more. I honestly couldn’t get enough of this fabulous line. It’s some of the cutest boy’s casual wear I’ve seen in ages.
A note specifically for parents of child performers – stock up on larger sizes for the future! Many of these wardrobe pieces would have been perfect for the Disney Music Video my daughter filmed earlier this year, “We Can Change the World,” which called for “ethnic-inspired wardrobe choices.” It was beyond tough to pull off an ethnic look while avoiding the trappings of being too costume-like, these wardrobe items are not only a simple solution but a fashionable one as well.
And right now until October 23, you have the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes collaboration between TEA COLLECTION and ORBIT Strollers called “BRING BABY HOME IN STYLE” worth a whopping $1400 dollars! For entry rules ad entering information click HERE.

ABOUT SPY KIDS 4D:
On the surface, Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba) has it all…married to a famous spy hunting television reporter, a new baby and intelligent twin step kids. But in reality, trying to mother Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook), who clearly don’t want her around, is her toughest challenge yet. Also, her husband, Wilbur (Joel McHale), wouldn’t know a spy if he lived with one which is exactly the case – Marissa’s a retired secret agent.
Marissa’s world is turned upside down when the maniacal Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven) threatens to take over the planet and she’s called back into action by the head of OSS, home of the greatest spies and where the now-defunct Spy Kids division was created. With Armageddon quickly approaching, Rebecca and Cecil are thrust into action when they learn their boring step-mom was once a top agent and now the world’s most competitive ten year olds are forced to put their bickering aside and rely on their wits. With a little help from a couple of very familiar former Spy Kids, Carmen (Alexa Vega) and Juni Cortez (Daryl Sabara), and some mind-blowing gadgets, they just may be able to save the world and possibly bring their family together while they’re at it.

Hollywood Mom Blog Rocks the SPY KIDS: ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD IN 4D Pre-Screening!
Posted on 01. Aug, 2011 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
By all accounts, last weeks special pre-screening of SPY KIDS: ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD IN 4D at the Arclight Hollywood was a huge success! SPY KID Child Stars Rowan Blanchard and Mason Cook were on hand to mingle with Hollywood Mom’s readership after the screening and thankfully, Hollywood Mom Elise Burks became an impromptu photographer catching her daughters Ariana and Anaiya with the film’s stars (like Jeremy Piven left) and other HMB families. Everyone raved about the film and some called it the best film yet of the beloved SPY KIDS franchise.
Some other lucky HMB readers who attended the screening were HM Olivia Lopez and dd Natalie Lopez; HM Kathy Drelling Card and daughters Sophia and Simone; HM Dani with daughter Damoni Burkhardt; HM Karean Chapman and her girls, Shayna and Mikayla; and HM Lilli Baur attended with son’s Niko and Caden Baur.

HMB Readers Rock!: Child actors Ariana Burks and Anaiya Burks meet fellow child actors and SPY KIDS stars, Rowan Blanchard and Mason Cook, at the Hollywood Mom Blog pre-screening at the Arclight Hollywood last Thursday.

From the Momager Trenches L.A.: Baby Books Carters Holiday Shoot
Posted on 27. Jul, 2011 by Hollywood Mom.
When we auditioned for a Carter’s Holiday print job on Saturday (during Carmageddon weekend no less), I knew the shoot was scheduled for the following Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. So by Tuesday evening, it was safe to say that I’d given up hope of Cash booking it at all and was mentally ‘on to the next.’ As I putzed around Tuesday night, cleaning toys up off the floor and dinner off the walls (yes, you read that right), I thought it was a little strange for my phone to ring at 9:45 pm. As a leasing agent though, I receive about 10-20 calls/day from unfamiliar numbers. This call, I assumed, was just another apartment inquiry, albeit an uncharacteristically, and might I add presumptuous, late night call, even in the world of apartment rentals. Twenty minutes later, I decided to check the voice mail… and there it was. The Call!
My son Cash was being called in at the last minute for the Carter’s Holiday shoot and could we be there at 1:30 p.m. the next day? Of course we could! I was thrilled! I quickly ran in to tell my husband and then shot over to the computer to email my boss, telling him.. er.. asking him about taking a half day the next day. Finally, after 18 months, Cash had booked his first paying gig.
The shoot was conveniently about 15 minutes from our house. So I ran home after working in the morning, scooped my lil’ dude up, changed his clothes, grabbed his work permit and we were out the door. Although, he did have just enough time to play with my keys for exactly one minute before falling directly on top of them, leaving a giant red mark on his cheek. Oh well, hair and makeup worked wonders. We had to wait to be shuttled up to the private location which actually worked out well because he was able to sneak in a good 45 minute nap between the ride and the waiting. Sleepy babies = cranky babies = no pictures, please!
Upon arriving, we found out that Cash was the backup model for his clothing size. Bummer. But, I remembered our agent saying that backups are almost always used as primaries. All was not lost! An adorable little boy named Gabriel and Cash were dressed in the same Christmas outfit. Gabriel went into shoot while we waited patiently and settled in to watch Dino Dan. Approximately 30 seconds later, I heard the sound of a boy protesting quite loudly. I have no shame in admitting that the first thought in my head was, “Ooh, I hope that’s Gabriel!” Because if Gabriel had no interest in having his picture taken, then that meant we were in. Sure enough, Gabriel came right off the set and in went Mr. Cash. Score! (Sorry, Gabriel’s mom, I know you understand!)
My initial instinct was to just step back and let him go with the staff, so I did. And honestly, I think it was the best thing I could have done. Because HE. DID. AWESOME! I am fairly certain that if I had been in view, he would have thrown his little tantrums, cried for mama and tried to run towards me – all very typical actions of any 18 month old boy. But because he was surrounded by a new group of people who were completely interested in him and seemingly thrilled by his every smile, he just shined.
It was so rewarding to have him handed back to me and hear, “Wow, he really did great.” They even put him in a second outfit and used him for a pajama group shot. I couldn’t have been happier with the day’s outcome and now I will wait patiently to see if and where his images will be used for the Holiday season. All in all – not bad for a “backup!”

Long & Short Term Rentals for Hollywood Moms & Their Industry Kids!
Posted on 25. Jul, 2011 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
As a Hollywood Mom, you know the pressures of organizing your child to go to auditions, acting classes, agency meetings, etc. Many of you may even have to travel great distances to meet all of these demands. If you’re traveling to a major city, such as New York or Los Angeles, for a few days or even for a few months, there are many more options than a hotel to consider for your accommodations.
One up and coming site for assisting people with short term and long term rentals is Roomorama. Choose from over 300 destinations (even international locations) to browse for rentals; most are even furnished. You may find this to be a much more comfortable and cost saving way to live like a local in a city away from home. For your child(ren), this may be a great way to make them feel more relaxed, being in a home-like setting, and could help them perform better in important work settings.
The beauty of Roomorama is the plethora of pictures of each rental unit, a check-list of amenities, property information and rates. Payment for these accommodations can be made by any major credit card or PayPal account directly through the site. The host does not receive your payment until you check into the unit.
Conversely, if you’re a Hollywood Mom living in a city popular for filming, through Roomarama you can list your place as a” host site” to help other Hollywood Moms, while helping your own bank account in the process!
Know of any other great places to find a sublet? Feel free to share with all of our Hollywood Moms!

Posted on 10. Jun, 2011 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
Last weekend my daughter Jordan and I were fortunate enough to attend the Premiere of “Judy Moody & the Not Bummer Summer!” at the Arclight Theaters in Hollywood. Along with the cast Jordana Beatty, Heather Graham, Parris Mosteller, Garrett Ryan and Preston Bailey, there was an impressive showing of today’s top child stars walking the carpet: Allisyn Ashley Arm, Audrey Whitby, Ciara Bravo, Garrett Ryan, Morgan Lily, Matthew Scott, Brandon Tyler Russell, Tucker Albrizzi, Cameron Boyce, Max Burkholder, Kieran Shipka, Justin Tinucci, Alli Simpson, BooBoo Stewart, Darcy Rose Byrnes, Camryn Magness, Dylan Riley Snyder, Riley Thomas Stewart, Katherine McNamara, Jennessa Rose, Taylar Hender, Fivel Stewart, Tyree Brown and so many more!
Check out our whole Judy Moody journey in pictures here! The film opens nationwide TODAY and if you want a not bummer summer – I suggest you drive directly to the nearest theater and buy your tickets!
ABOUT THE MOVIE
Relativity Media and Smokewood Entertainment Group are proud to bring you this summer’s smash hit, “Judy Moody & the Not Bummer Summer!” In this film adaptation of the popular book series, Judy Moody is planning the most super-duper, double-rare summer break ever… until her BFF’s Rocky and Amy thwart those plans by heading out of town on their own thrilladelic vacations.
Now Judy is stuck at home with her annoying brother Stink and her not-so-adventuresome friend, Frank Pearl. Ugh. But matters quickly worsen when Judy’s parents drop the bomb that they too are headed out of town – without Judy & Stink. Enter mysterious Aunt Opal (Heather Graham), who has agreed to care for her neice & nephew even though she’s never met them and doesn’t seem to know much about children or driving for that matter! It appears all Judy’s grand plans for a thrill-filled summer have washed up. But with perseverance and help from some unlikely sources, she may just be surprised at how thrilladelic things get!
Genres: Comedy, Kids/Family and Adaptation
Release Date: June 10th, 2011 (wide)
MPAA Rating: PG for for mild rude humor and language.
ABOUT THE PREMIERE
Usually I wouldn’t go on and on about a premiere after party but this one was particularly well done. Themes from the movie were beautifully incorporated into the amazing after-party in the form of food, drinks, decor, entertainment, design, activities & games. All the kids were having the best time – even the parents were walking around with smiles on their faces. Then it hit me. All of these Judy Moody inspired booths would be perfect (and EASY) to recreate for your own personal Judy Moody party! So for those of you Hollywood Moms who love taking the kids to a movie (or when it’s released on DVD, showing the movie at home) and then following up with a themed party, I’ll be posting later on these ideas especially for YOU. For now – peruse our gallery of after-party pictures and download this super cool Judy Moody activity sheet!

American Idol’s Controversial Stage Mamas Direct “The Minors” to Group Night Victory!
Posted on 17. Feb, 2011 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
If you’re watching American Idol this season then you no doubt tuned in for the emotional train wreck event known as “Groups,” when the individual contestants are forced to partner up with the competition and make beautiful, harmonious music together. One of those singing groups,“The Minors,” is a quintet made up of 15- and 16-year-olds whose mothers, as required by law, are on set with them day and night. The group includes: Keonna Evans, 16; Jalen Harris, 15; Sarina-Joi Crowe 15; Felix Ramsey, 15; and Deandre Brackensick, 16. I found it refreshing to watch the moms of the minors work together harmoniously as they “directed” their cooperative and talented children through a Glee-like rendition of Queen’s “Somebody to Love.”
However not everyone got the warm fuzzys watching the stage moms in action and jealously reared it’s ugly head amongst some of the “over 18″ contestants, most notably a competing group who was set to perform the same Queen song as The Minors. The lead singer of the second group seemed particularly peeved and charged that the stage moms coaching was an unfair advantage. But seriously, although it may have been unfair, the whining over it was much more obnoxious than the offense itself.
The best part of the night was watching the mamas jump up and down enthusiastically as their teen songbirds blew the judges away with a near-perfect performance. Judge Jennifer Lopez even went so far as to say, “They just gave the performance of their life right there!”
How the stage moms relate to each other as the competition gets more fierce may be the true “show” to watch this season.

Thanks to Baby2Baby, Hollywood Moms Can Make Spring Cleaning Charitable
Posted on 18. May, 2010 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
If you’re in the midst of spring cleaning, wondering what to do with the clothes, blankets and baby gear your young kids have outgrown, you may want to do what Modern Family’s Julie Bowen did last week – give to Baby2Baby, a charity that supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential baby gear and clothing. It’s an easy way to clean house, recycle and help your local community. Baby2Baby.org accepts both new and gently used clothing and baby gear for children 0-4 years old as well as monetary donations.
Moms Marnie Owens (pictured far left) and Karis Jagger (yes, she’s related to Mick) started Baby2Baby in 2006 when they wanted to pass on items their kids had outgrown, but couldn’t find an organization that accepted baby goods specifically. Now their organization gives to more than 30 local community-based organizations.
Baby2Baby just kicked off their Spring Fundraising Drive with the help of inspiring Hollywood Mom and Baby2Baby board member, Julie Bowen, (Claire on Modern Family) who just celebrated her twin sons’ first birthday last week by hosting a Baby2Baby fundraiser at The Coop.
Fundraisers and open houses are an important component of what Baby2Baby does. Once a month, their 12 partner organizations send in donation request forms for clothing and gear that their clients need. Baby2Baby pulls together the requested items from inventory and often purchases essentials that are in great demand such as strollers, cribs and car seats. On the third Wednesday of the month, the organizations come to Baby2Baby to pick up their items.
It is important that donations do not remain on their shelves, but find their way to the Los Angeles families that need them. For this reason, Baby2Baby hosts “open houses.” Additional organizations are invited to our space to collect excess inventory items for their clients. These items generally include clothing, toys and books. Pretty awesome isn’t it? We hope this inspires you clean out your closets and give back!
