peg and cat

New PBS Series “Peg + Cat”, which premiered this morning Monday, October 7 at 9 a.m., is a new animated preschool series that follows the adorable, spirited Peg and her sidekick Cat as they embark on adventures and learn foundational math concepts and skills.

hayley faith negrinWhat HMB particularly likes about the show is that it stars the voice of Hayley Faith Negrin, 10, as CAT. Faith was born in New York City and resides in Connecticut with her mother, father and brother Sam. She’s been singing, dancing and entertaining from an early age, and her professional career began when she was “discovered” at age seven. She is a performer with boundless energy, as comfortable on a lacrosse field or basketball court as she is at an “open mic” night. Negrin has appeared in national television commercials, but the title role of “Peg” marks her first major starring role. She is a natural fit as Peg, sharing the character’s passion for life and math. Her agents are Barbara Coleman & Halle Madia at Innovative Artists NY and her management is Marianne Leone at Terrific Talent.

This series is designed to engage preschool children and teach them how to solve math-based problems with Peg, a chatty and tenacious five year-old, her feline pal, Cat, and her smart, handsome, cool friend Ramone. Co-creators Billy Aronson (RentPostcards from Buster) and Jennifer Oxley (Little BillThe Wonder Pets!) have teamed with The Fred Rogers Company to bring young viewers a new way to experience math through Peg and Cat’s relatable, and often hilarious, adventures.

Every half-hour episode of “Peg + Cat” will feature two stories, each an eleven-minute adventure in which Peg and Cat find themselves thrust into an unexpected math word problem. The series premieres with a special one-hour broadcast of two back-to-back episodes, along with integrated online and mobile content. The series will air weekdays at 9 a.m.and reprise at 2:30 p.m. on PBS SoCaL.
