Okay Hollywood Moms, this is the casting call you’ve been waiting for. Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson has landed a supporting role in George Tillman Jr.’s independent film, MISTER AND PETE, which will be produced by Grammy winning artist and actress Alicia Keys, Dror Soref, and Bob Teitel and directed by George Tillman (BARBER SHOP, NOTORIOUS, SOUL FOOD). The production is currently seeking an African American boy age 12 to 14 and an Asian boy, ages 6-10 to star in this film with Jennifer Hudson.

Synopsis: Raised by an absentee single mother whose sole concern is scoring her next fix, (Jennifer Hudson) Mister, a street-savvy self-starter, hides behind the petulant disposition of a boy who is too prideful to let the pain of being poor and alone in the world show. Mister has found his calling in acting. He’s a performer and the hope of making it to Hollywood is what fuels him during times where weaker men would surrender to hopelessness. After his mother is arrested, Mister, with no money or food, reluctantly finds himself caring for an innocent 9 year old boy named Pete. CASTING CALL TEXAS: Local Boys & Girls, 6 to 8 years old

Hollywood has come to Taylor, Texas! Boys and girls in the 6-8 year old range from Taylor and surrounding areas are welcome to an open casting call for a family-oriented feature film. The open casting call will be held from Sunday, June 26, 2011, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at El Corral Lozano restaurant, located at 300 W. Second St. in Taylor.
Vicky Boone of Vicky Boone Casting, will be conducting the casting call for Sycamore Pictures which is looking for area boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 8 to play important roles in an upcoming film.
According to Boone, “Most of the filming will be done in Central Texas. We like to go to smaller towns [sic] to look for kids because they seem to be more active and full of life, which is what we are looking for.”
The ideal candidates for the boy roles are those who are imaginative and spirited, while the girls they seek are those who have an ethereal quality to them. No acting experience is necessary.
Vicky Boone Casting, located in Austin, TX, has done a number of casting calls in the Central Texas area.
“I just did one for The Road several weeks ago and about 600 people showed up,” she said. “We usually have a pretty good turnout, which is good. We want to provide production teams with a lot of choices.”

About Vicky Boone in her own words: I am a native Texan, born and raised in the Houston area. I have worked professionally with actors and directors in Texas since 1982. In 2004, I began casting films and commercials. In recent years, I’ve served as casting director on such projects as Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life (producer Sarah Green), Spike Jonze’s Scenes from the Suburbs (producer Vince Landay), David Riker’sThe Girl (producer Paul Mezey) and Steve Collins’ Gretchen (producers Jay Van Hoy, Lars Knudsen and Anish Savjani). I also work with many central Texas production companies casting commercials and industrials.
Prior to beginning a career in casting, I worked professionally as a theater director and producer for 15 years, directing over 50 plays and producing many more. Specializing in new play development, I worked at the Empty Space Theatre (Seattle), the Playwrights’ Center (Minneapolis), the Sundance Theatre Lab (Utah), the Alley Theatre (Houston), the Guthrie Theatre (Minneapolis), the Dallas Theatre Center and Dallas Shakespeare Festival. For ten years I ran the critically acclaimed Austin theatre, Frontera Productions and produced the annual fringe performance festival, FronteraFest.
I have directed two short films, Attack of the Bride Monster (2005) and Adventure Story (2003) which have screened at over 60 festivals internationally including The Hamptons Int’l Film Festival, Palm Springs Int’l Short Film Festival, The Provincetown Film Festival and the Seoul Int’l Woman’s Film Festival.
I taught acting and directing at St. Edward’s University (Austin) and the University of Texas. I hold an MFA in Directing from Boston University School for the Arts and a BA in Theater from Texas A&M University.

Disney Live! is currently seeking Male and Female Dancers, Character Performers and Tumblers for the upcoming tour season.
Specialty skills such as adagio, trampoline, puppetry,in‐line skating and foreign language skills are a plus. Brad Gilmore Casting is casting “White Frog,” a feature film starring Joan Chen, BD Wong, Margaret Cho and Harry Shum, Jr.. Principal photography commences July 18, 2011 and ends August 7, 2011 in Los Angeles. Executive Producer is scribe David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly, Possession). Producers are Chris Lee (Superman Returns, Valkyrie) and Joel Soisson (Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.) They are seeking male, asian teens, 13-17 years old to play 15 for the lead role of Nick.
Character: Nick: boy, 15, Asian, suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome and relies on his older brother to help him socially. Following his brother’s death, the bewildering outside world is no longer filtered for him, and Nick is forced to face truths he never thought possible about his brother’s secret life. Note: Asperger’s Syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

AAA Urban Casting has a Rush casting call for Music Video.
