Disney Studios is searching the country for new teen and tween talent and is starting at home in Southern California, with Disney’s casting directors visiting So. California schools, after-school programs and dance studios to find new faces.
According to the HuffPost, Disney and Disney XD are officially launching an annual nationwide open call audition to find young actors, singers, and dancers ages 10-17 who will star in Disney Channel and Disney XD’s series and movies while “reflect[ing] our diverse world.”
“We are part of a global community and television should be a reflection of our diverse audience,” Judy Taylor, senior vice president of Casting and Talent Relations for Disney Channels Worldwide (and my fellow Looking Ahead Advisory Committee Member) states, “Great storytelling comes from all different backgrounds and cultures and it’s important that we have actors and characters representing all of these different voices. While our casting search is for everyone, this ‘grass roots’ search is a great opportunity for us to see many young actors [and] actresses whose talent, by circumstances or geography, hasn’t yet been evaluated by a professional casting director.”
Latinos have shone brightly in roles for Disney movies and series over the years, and the company has taken note of the popularity of these teens and their characters among their viewers.
“Stars including Selena Gomez, Raini Rodriguez, Bella Thorne and Adam Irigoyen are very popular with our overall audience because they’re relatable, proud of their background and appreciative of the support they receive from their respective communities,” Taylor added.

I’m looking for an agent to represent my two kids. We recently moved to LA from wash.Dc and both kids have acting experience with interest in working with Disney… Do you know of open calls in LA?
Hi Natasha,
Start by contacting several agents on the Hollywood Mom Blog Agents list with your children’s head shots and resumes. Also get them enrolled in top classes to hone their skills – we have a list of those too. You should have no problem finding representation. Open calls happen sporadically – best to be proactive and get your kids representation. Open calls will no longer be your only option. Good Luck!
I would love to tryout for this
