“Every Year The Women Of New York Leave The Past Behind & Look Forward To The Future… This Is Known As Fashion Week” – Carrie Bradshaw
I would add the “Women of the Internet” to that quote!
I know it’s been awhile since my last post. But I have a good reason: Her name is Evelyn and she’s 6 weeks old! Since the arrival of my third daughter, I’ve had a lot of time to sit with my phone not too far out of reach. I’ve been perusing pictures, reading news, watching videos, and passing the time with my little future-fashionista sitting on my lap. I’ve gotten really good at typing with one hand and feeding with the other! And I’ve been on Instagram…a lot.
My quasi-maternity leave (quasi because right now I do most of my work from the couch) came at the perfect time for catching Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2014! I love browsing looks from some of my favorite designers (Nicole Miller, Jenny Packham, Michael Kors), and I always discover new ones to crave (Sass & Bide). I tend to learn more about own personal style, which is ever evolving and a mixed bag—a little retro noir here and a little rocker chic there. It works out perfectly for this column since the pack of Young Hollywood who frequent red carpet events (Kiernan Shipka, Zendaya, Maisie Williams, Hailey Steinfeld, Bella Thorne, Jacquie Lee, Peyton List) fall under a similar spectrum of style as well. There were so many child stars, teen stars and former child stars (even Momager Dina Lohan!) in attendance, Teen Vogue refers to this years’ show as a “Disney Reunion.”
Check out some of the front row #ChildStars style choices for fashion week below:
And if you’re taking notes on what’s trending for Fall 2014 Hollywood Moms, fur and feathers were all over the runway, as were plaid, long sleeves, and cutouts/detail. I was pleased to see ankle booties are still here and lots of patterned tights. I’m a big fan!
