ABOUT McKenna Shoots for the Stars!
Meet McKenna Brooks, a determined and confident young gymnast, in this all-new, modern-day adventure. McKenna is on track to make the regional competitive gymnastics team, but off track in school, where she’s suddenly struggling to keep up. When her teacher suggests a tutor, she’s embarrassed and desperate to keep it a secret from her friends. Then a bad fall at the gym sidetracks her from her favorite sport. Will she recover in time to make the team? Can she succeed in school, too? McKenna needs to focus on her strengths to overcome her challenges—and, with the help of family and friends, find a way to believe in herself again.
TO ENTER TO WIN: In the reply to section below, please tell us why your little gymnast (or aspiring gymnast!) would love this soon to be American Girl Classic!
My daughter loves American Girl! This story line sounds like it would be close enough to help my daughter emotionally, but not too close to bring back any fear or anxiety of being bullied in Kindergarten last year! We don’t think she really understands that she was a victim of being bullied. She’s only 6 years old. It affected her school and dancing ability. But if she saw this movie with young girls, (even though they’re older) but the struggles that happen, in school and other activities, the feeling of being embarrassed and over coming them is still the same concept! Great Movie, I wish it lots of success and hope millions of girls benefit from it whether they know it or not. ~ Sharon
I don’t know if they are aspiring gymnasts…but Merit REALLY wants to be able to do a cart wheel..LOL..hoping it might inspire her 🙂
sounds like a great film 🙂

My daughter, who is a gymnast, would absolutely love to recieve this movie for her birthday which is coming up here in August. This is exactly about what she is going through right now. She broke her arm and missed some of her competitions, which has brought some fear into getting back to doing alot of the elements she used to never be afraid to try. She also, for the first time, has been falling and struggling a little bit in schoolwork because of all the time spent at the gym. I know she would absolutely be able to relate to the character and I think it would help her bring back a lot of the confidence she lost after she was injured for the first time.
My oldest daughter has been doing gymnastics since she was 5. She is 10 now. Though she is tall and would probably be a better basketball player she still likes the beam and floor. She saved her allowance all year to get her doll and book and would so enjoy having the movie as well!
thank you for entering us in the giveaway.
My daughter loves American girl and loves doing somersaults. We will be starting gymnastics next week so this would be perfect for her!
This movie (and really anything AG) would top off Kayli’s summer in such a great way! Her birthday is coming up in August and she is trying to have it based on a theme…AG is one of her narrowed down choices! It would be GREAT fun to have the movie to show at the party and ……count it as a PREMIERE….and learn some valuable life lessons as well!
Receiving this would score a “10” in Kayli’s book!
Thanks for the opportunity to comment…We love HM Blog!
My daughter has determination and is outgoing like McKenna I love the story line and I know both my girls can benefit and enjoy the movie as much. I will we are big fans
Kaylee started gymnastics a year ago. She has shown me what it is to have a true passion for something….giving it your all, even when you feel a little bit overwhelmed or challenged. From the moment we walked into the gym, her face lit up, her eyes seemed to sparkle…she had found her passion. The moment we saw Mckenna at American Girl, she was in heaven. Her two favorite things have come together, American Girl and Gymnastics….the holy grail for a 7 year old. She has yet to see this movie, but I am sure when she does….the big picture of overcoming challenges and striving for what you want will all come together for her. Wishing everyone finds their true passion!
