Betty Ford Professionals Urge Former Child Star Lindsay Lohan to Fire Momager Dina
Posted on 19. Oct, 2010 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
According to Perez Hilton, professionals at the Betty Ford Center are reportedly advising patient Lindsay Lohan to cut her mother, Dina Lohan, out of her professional life, so that they can try to establish a more normal parent/child relationship. A number of former child stars retain their parents as managers long after the age of 18 and as we reported earlier this year, usually to less than desirable results.
A inside source explains:
“Dina needs to no longer act as her manager, or work for her daughter in any capacity. Lindsay needs Dina to simply be her mother. Lindsay’s treatment team at Betty Ford has emphasized this to Lindsay, very, very strongly. Lindsay feels the financial burden of taking care of her entire family. It’s enormous pressure for any person in their twenties, let alone someone that is battling with addiction. Lindsay and Dina don’t have a normal mother-and-daughter dynamic because of the length of time that Dina has worked for Lindsay. She isn’t strong enough to tell Dina that she doesn’t want her to work for her anymore. It’s partly because it has been the norm for so long and Lindsay doesn’t know what her career would look like without her mom’s involvement. Lindsay wants to get back to work, with the view, the sooner the better. However, her treatment team is asking that she commit to at least another 45 days of treatment. Lindsay has done several 30 day rehab stints and almost every time, she has relapsed. We really believe that the longer she stays at Betty Ford, the better for her odds of success.”

Former “Who’s The Boss” Child Star Outed As Tupperware Salesman by Perez Hilton
Posted on 01. Oct, 2010 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
It’s been revealed that former child star Danny Pintauro, 34, who played Jonathan Bower on the 1980s sitcom “Who’s the Boss,” is now a Tupperware salesman. I can’t believe that a former child star being gainfully employed outside the film industry is breaking news, but there you have it.
Perez Hilton has pealed the plastic lid off the proverbial casserole dish and announced that Pintauro, a Stanford Graduate who came out as being gay in 1997, has just launched his own business page on the official Tupperware site soliciting customers to host a “Tupperware party” with him in their home.
His Tupperware bio states: “My name is Daniel and I am a brand new Tupperware Consultant. I’m here to party with you and show you that Tupperware is sexy, hip and not just in your grandmother’s kitchen! Look out America! Here we come! If you live in Southern California, I’d love to come to your house and have a party…If you DON’T live in Southern California, I’d love to throw you a party too….but that’s a bit trickier. Care to fly me there?”
Pintauro’s bio additionally reveals, “I love to cook, I love to throw parties (my friends call me Martha when I plan a party) and I LOVE to save money. I have three dogs. I live in Los Angeles.”
While apparently the only thing I have in common with Danny appears to be owning 3 dogs in La La Land (no one has ever called me Martha and I’ll likely never be accused of being frugal) if did I host such a party, Pintauro just might be the salesman I’d call.
According to IMDB, Danny starred in the horror film Cujo and TV staple Who’s the Boss (costarring Tony Danza, Alyssa Milano and Judith Light), which ended in 1992. He appeared in a 2010 episode of The Secret Life of an American Teenager and in the 2007 low-budget independent film The Still Life (which coincidentally Hubby Russell consulted on as a favor to our realtor’s son – a first time film maker).
I suggest following Danny on facebook and the next time you need to buy some tupperware, consider showing a former child star some love!

MOMAGERS: Life is No *Ice Cream* Cake Walk for Dina Lohan
Posted on 17. Jun, 2010 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
In trivial and unbelievable Momager/Child Star news today, the latest “scoop” at Carvel Ice Cream is that the Lohan Family’s Carvel Black Card has been Black-listed. For those unfamiliar, a “Black Card” grants the holder free Carvel ice cream for 75 years.
RadarOnline reports that Dina Lohan, the momager of tabloid staple and former child star Lindsay Lohan, claims that a Carvel ice cream shop employee reported her to the police after she used daughter Ali Lohan‘s free ice cream card. (Carvel states that the card was issued to Lindsay Lohan.) Dina went to a Carvel ice cream store in East Meadow, New York, to pick up a birthday ice cream cake for her son Cody’s 14th birthday party and wanted to use a special Carvel “Black” card which she believed guarantees her and her family “free ice cream for 75 years.” However, when Dina went to the ice cream store, she didn’t have her own card and instead used her daughter Ali’s card. “I didn’t think it be [sic] a problem,” Dina told RadarOnline.
Dina alleges that the Carvel employee grabbed her arm, took her Black Card and “held it hostage.” She further claims that the employee called the police who then sent over a police helicopter.
If this is true, about the police helicopter, all I can say is that people in Long Island take their ice cream very seriously. Very. Seriously. Or maybe they just hate the Lohan family.
The employee eventually returned the card, but refused to give Dina Lohan a free cake. Dina states that “it just shows how we get treated so much worse than regular people.” She says, “Just wait until Lindsay and Ali hear about this [...] when Ali gets back, I’m going to bring her in everyday to this store–and you can print that!”
CARVEL’S VERSION OF EVENTS:
In their own statement to the press today, Carvel Ice Cream said the following:
“As part of Carvel’s 75th Anniversary celebration last year, we issued 75 Black Cards to celebrities. These cards were issued in the celebrity’s name and require the card holder to be present at the time of use. Many celebrities have enjoyed their cards at our Carvel Ice Cream shoppes and have shared their excitement with being included in the celebration.”
(Editor: Please note that the following verbiage is clearly printed on the Black Card in question:)
“Unfortunately, the Lohan family has been abusing the card. While the card was issued in Lindsay’s name only, her extended family has repeatedly used the card without her present. At first, we graciously honored their requests while explaining that the Black Card was not a carte blanc for unlimited Carvel Ice Cream for the extended Lohan family and friends. After more than six months of numerous and large orders for ice cream, we finally had to cut off the card and take it back. Dina Lohan reacted badly and called the police to have her card returned. The police responded and did return the card to Dina with instructions not to use it again. This is an unfortunate situation where certain people feel entitled to use a celebrity’s name for their own purposes. We regret that the Lohan family is upset and hope this matter is put behind us quickly.”
Rest assured, it will only be a matter of minutes before we spy “Team Carvel” and “Team Lohan” t-shirts adorning teens at the local mall, although my money is on the former boasting better sales. Let’s just hope we can forgo the obligatory rubber bracelets emblazoned with “What Would Tom Carvel Do?” or worse yet, “What Would Fudgie Do?”

9 Yr Old Disney Star’s Clothing Line deemed the “Apocolypse” by Perez Hilton, “Perverse” by The Daily Mail & “Too Racy & Sexy” by Celebrity Stylist Shaye Strager
Posted on 08. Feb, 2010 by Editor Tracy Bobbitt.
“If babies are wearing this crap right out of the bomb, there is no hope for the youth of America.”
- Blogger Perez HIlton on the Emily Grace Reeves collection by Ooh La La Couture
I’d like to preface this post by saying never in my many years of working in children’s fashion have I witnessed such an enormous backlash against a children’s clothing company or a clothing line as what you are about to read. This makes Charlie’s Sheen’s ill-fated and poorly received clothing line Sheen Kidz seem like the front runner of fashion week by comparison. It’s important to note that this is not the fault of these young children, but rather some poor decisions on the part of their parents and their management teams. The poor kid just turned 9 about three weeks ago – Consider this a cautionary tale…
Ooh La La! I smell a pint-sized scandal. Nine year old, up-and-coming Disney Star Emily Grace Reeves and her namesake children’s clothing line “The Emily Grace Collection” designed by Ooh! La La Couture has come under a hailstorm of fire from the press for being too adult (in a promiscuous sense) and is being likened to designs by a well-known online lingerie brand by several high-profile critics. The Emily Grace Collection is named after “Hannah Montana” actor Emily Grace Reaves, who helps design the line. The line is currently scheduled to debut on February 14, 2010 at Fred Segal.
Her friend Noah Cyrus, 10, (Miley’s younger sister) has also helped promote the collection in photos and online videos. Noah is Disney superstar Miley Cyrus’ younger sister.
According to the official Ooh La La Couture press release announcing the line:
Ooh! La, La! Couture is proud to present our new exclusive Emily Grace Collection, inspired by 8-year old actress Emily Grace Grace Reaves (best known for her role as “Cindy Lou” in Hannah Montana: The Movie). The collection’s trendy, sweet, yet edgy feel, is reminiscent of Emily’s true personality. She is collaborating with Ooh! La, La! Couture designers to create versatile styles that can be worn with sweet ballerina slippers, funky sneakers or paired with lace stockings and boots for more of a rock and roll look. Emily’s collection will appeal not just to little girls—the line also has an exclusive Teen Collection available to a size 14.
But the similarity of the clothes to adult lingerie is undeniable, say critics. Gossip blogger Perez Hilton likened the news of line’s “release to the apocalypse,” while the Daily Mail called the designs “perverse.”
Promotional materials for the line feature Emily Grace Reaves and Noah Cyrus modeling the clothing with grown up looks and poses. In one image the girls are allegedly seen surrounding what appears to be a stripper pole (below), and another shows the children posing in leopard mini-skirts that bear a striking resemblance to an adult lingerie piece from LingerieDiva.com. Readers may recall the Miley particiapted in her own Stripper Pole drama at the MTV Awards last fall.
A rep for Ooh! La La, Couture told Fox411.com that the clothing line has absolutely nothing to do with lingerie. “Whoever started this rumor grossly misinformed the public, press and media,” Terri Tex of T2 Public Relations told Fox. “I don’t even know where that word or idea of lingerie came from.” Maybe she hasn’t seen these photos? Tex further states that while Noah Cyrus is a “big supporter” of the line and Emily’s best friend, she is not involved in the partnership: “The collaboration with the collection is between Ooh! La La, Couture and Emily Grace Reaves only.”
Celebrity Stylist Shaye Strager, who has worked with stars Brooke Shields and Helen Hunt, told Fox411.com that the fabric and designs are simply “too racy and sexy for the target audience. Capitalizing on celebrity style has been a huge hot-button issue for fashion and there should be something special about ‘coming of age’ and being able to wear more grown-up clothing,” she said. “But typically, girls begin to experiment with this [more risque dress] in high school … because these girls are so young, I think they are crossing the line here. Bottom line, the clothing is not appropriate for children of that age,” Strager added.
This is not the first time Noah Cyrus and her parents have come under fire for her choices in clothes.
At a Halloween party last year, Noah wore red lipstick, a lacy black dress and lace-up knee-high boots. At another event, she wore deep v-neck Ramones halter-top. Her sister Miley posed nude from the waist up for Vanity Fair magazine when she was 15, which her father took particular heat for as he was there for at least parts of the photo shoot. Reps for Cyrus’ parents did not respond to request for comment.
According to Dr. Georgia Witkin, a professor of psychology at Mt. Sinai and a Fox News contributor, the grown-up images the girls are displaying speak to the problem many child stars face.
“When a child mimics the look of a teenager or an adult, they are skipping an entire developmental stage. Most of the values that kids learn in order to be able to handle the challenges of adult life are during the ages of 5-12,” Witkin said. “This is when they learn how to judge and how they are perceived. If they begin to believe that their value is based on their looks or their sexiness, it sends a completely wrong message.”
Witkin said that it is not the clothing that is necessarily the problem, but the potential emotional repercussions of growing up too fast. “Developmentally, they can’t feel what it means to want to be attractive to the opposite sex. For them, it’s dress up,” Witkin said. “But when they dress like an older sibling, there is the danger that there will be emotions that go undeveloped and unexplored.”
Several years ago a report commissioned by the respected Australian Institute coined a new phrase to describe the commercial sexualisation of children: “corporate pedophilia.” Lead researcher Emma Rush wrote: ‘Images of sexualised children are becoming increasingly common in advertising and marketing material. ”Children who appear aged 12 years and under, particularly girls, are dressed, posed and made up in the same way as sexy adult models.”
For more information about this probem, read Feminist writer Natasha Walter’s account of the hypersexualisation of children, “Living Dolls: The Return Of Sexism.”
